Antacids and Antinausea
(SN3 3RB for Sat Nav)
Antacids – when should we be using these drugs and which ones should we use?
Antacids are one of the commonest drugs used in small animal practice, often these are used liberally but are they benign drugs, as is often thought, and what does the evidence say about when they are indicated? This talk will discuss the extensive evidence-base behind the different classes of antacid, when they should be used and at what dosages.
Antinausea – multimodal antiemesis for our nauseous patients
We are all familiar with the huge increase in multimodal analgesia and the benefits of this for our patients. The pathways that cause nausea in dogs and cats have many similarities to the nociceptive pathways, but this is rarely reflected in the case management. In this talk, the approach to the nauseous patient, including the use of multimodal drug therapy, is discussed along with specific management recommendations.
