OMFS Research:

  1. Study of the location and distribution of cranio-maxillofacial fractures in cats that had been presented for the treatment of head trauma.  Presented at the British Veterinary Dental Conference in April 2018, the European Veterinary Dental Forum in June 2018. Published in the Journal of Feline Medicine and Surgery June 2018

  3. CT study of the prevalence of subchondral cyst like lesions in the temporomandibular joints of dogs. Preliminary results presented as a scientific abstract at the British Small Animal Veterinary Conference in April 2018
  4. Review of the outcome and recovery rate of cats following the treatment of mandibular fractures. This study considered the impact of fracture location and technique employed in fracture fixation on recovery rate and the incidence of complications. The results of this study were presented at the European Veterinary Dental Forum in June 2018 and are yet to be published
  5. CT study looking at maxillary symmetry in healthy cats and also cats following maxillary trauma. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the impact of maxillary fractures on post injury occlusion. The results of this study were presented at the European Veterinary Dental Forum in June 2018 and are yet to be published
  6. CT study looking at mandibular symmetry in healthy cats.  The purpose of this study was to prove that, following caudal mandibular fracture, a mirror image of the contralateral intact mandible could be used as a template for pre-contouring mini plates or the production of a 3D printed Titanium patient specific plate. This study has been published in Frontiers in Veterinary Science in July 2018
  7. Specialist clinical supervision of a Biomechanical Engineering MSc project at the School of Engineering, University of Liverpool looking at the feasibility of designing a range of standard caudal mandibular bone plates in cats. This study is on going
