Ida Gilbert

Head of Ophthalmology

Ida graduated from Bristol University in 1995, but is originally from Norway. After two years in mixed practice, she decided to commit to her interest in ophthalmology and joined Eastcott Veterinary Vets in 1997. She obtained the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons’ Certificate in Veterinary Ophthalmology in 2001.

Ida now works solely with ophthalmic referrals and enjoys all areas of ophthalmology, but in particular finds eyelid surgery, corneal surgery and the art of being able to make animals see again through cataract surgery rewarding. She is actively involved with ophthalmology and has served 4 terms on the Committee of the British Association of Veterinary Ophthalmologists (BrAVO) since 2009. She is currently the Chairman of BrAVO and she has recently joined the International Society of Veterinary Ophthalmology (ISVO) Steering Committee.

Ida aims to provide a friendly, cost-effective and efficient service to her clients and referring vets and is very happy to give advice over the phone or by e-mail.
