Ben Fayers

ECC Veterinary Surgeon

After qualifying Ben worked for a busy small animal hospital where he managed a range of emergency cases and inpatients as well as providing the Out-Of-Hours service for the hospital as a sole charge role every weekend.

Ben’s main interests in ECC are managing difficult medical cases such as Diabetic Ketoacidosis, patients requiring transfusions and acute kidney injuries. He is also very interested in acute management of trauma patients, providing targeted fluid therapy and multimodal analgesia.

He is a big advocate of the use of central venous catheters in appropriate patients to minimise stress, obtain diagnostic information and provide efficient treatment. Ben is also keen to help advance research into making blood transfusions as safe and efficient as possible for both dogs and cats.
