Top soft tissue specialist joins the team

We are delighted to announce that highly qualified and experienced specialists soft tissue surgeon Faye Swinbourne has joined the team.

Faye is an ECVS specialist in small animal surgery, RCVS specialist in small animal surgery (Soft Tissue) and EBVS® European specialist in small animal surgery.

She will team up with fellow specialists Tim Charlesworth and Andrew Phillips, who make up the soft tissue surgery team  here at Eastcott, further boosting the multi-disciplinary expertise the hospital provides.

Eastcott Veterinary Referrals clinical director Duncan Barnes said: “Faye is a fabulous addition to the team and will further enhance our ability to deliver the best possible care to our patients.

Faye, who has a particular interest in thoracic and abdominal emergency surgery, said:

“I’m delighted to have joined the team and feel passionate about delivering a high standard of care to patients and clients.”

Faye graduated from Edinburgh University in 2004. After working in a mixed veterinary practice for several years she opted to pursue specialist surgical training.

She completed a small animal rotating internship at a private referral practice and then successfully undertook a three-year residency training programme in small animal surgery and a clinical master’s degree (MVetMed) at the Royal Veterinary College.

She became a diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons (ECVS) in 2014.

Alongside clinical work, Faye actively contributes to veterinary research, sits on the committee for a number of professional organisations and delivers regular training in soft tissue surgery to vets working in general practice.
