How to apply eye ointment

  1. Lift the chin up slightly to help get a flatter aim for
  2. Be calm, gentle and praise the patient
  3. Aim to lift the upper eyelid slightly to create a pocket, using the back/side of your hand
  4. Lean slightly on the patient with your hand to make it safer, as you will follow their movement should the animal move, making it less likely to accidentally poke them in the eye
  5. Apply 3-5mm of ointment just above the eye and allow the ointment to melt for a short while
  6. Lift the hand away
